I have no option but to withdraw the amendment as that is how things work in Grand Committee. It is an additional reason why I think that we should not be in Grand Committee at all. Here is an extremely important matter of principle on which we are unable to ask for the opinion of our colleagues. In the circumstances, all I can say is that the noble Baroness has not satisfied me. I do not think that the case she cited where the person was at risk of persecution because of his religious convictions was relevant to the case that I made on Amendment No. 25, nor did she cope with the possibility that a person in the situation of Mr Ahmed, whose case I outlined in Amendment No. 26, would not have suffered if this Bill had been in operation and if he had been unable to cite the reasons that I gave.
