In looking at the amendments, I am torn between those tabled by my hon. Friend and those tabled by my right hon. Friend the Member for Bromley and Chislehurst (Mr. Forth). My hon. Friend’s amendment No. 14 would leave out the words"““appears to the Treasury to be expedient””,"
whereas my right hon. Friend’s amendment would leave in the word ““Treasury”” and insert"““following consultation with the Commissioner for Revenue and Customs””."
I hope that during his remarks my hon. Friend will be able to advance the case for his amendment over that tabled by my right hon. Friend.
