I hesitate to intervene because, as I have declared before, I am a magistrate and I deal with road traffic matters. It is inconceivable—I have never come across it—that the case of someone charged with careless driving as a result of which the victim was seriously, seriously injured would remain in the magistrates’ court. It would almost certainly end up in the Crown Court.
