I have repeatedly stated that the Government are in favour of a 30 mph limit in those circumstances. However, whether or not the noble Baroness wishes to hear it called ““government policy””, the Government would want local authorities to have flexibility to make what they see as the appropriate decisions. I am afraid therefore that there is not a meeting of minds on this issue between myself and the noble Baroness.
