On the issue of police cars going so fast, the daughter of one of our local general practitioners in North Yorkshire was a student at Oxford University. Last year she was killed on a zebra crossing in Oxford, by a police car which was responding to a 999 call—which could have been a hoax, though I am not sure. That was a tragedy. The funeral, held in Ripon Cathedral, was packed by people worried about the police driving so fast through lights and zebra crossings. The police are getting a bad reputation.
