There is no limit to the possibilities of technology in informing drivers. I am chastened by the remarks of my noble friend Lord Berkeley—I did not want to indicate that all safety cameras fulfilled exactly that role. However, he will recognise that they are erected to enforce speed limits where there has been clear evidence that, for the sake of safety, they are necessary. Cameras are erected and clearly identified so as to enable proper and continual enforcement. We want people to know it.
