Question

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the comments by Lord Sassoon on 24 November 2010 (Official Report, col. 1157), whether they will meet their target ““to make the first payments in the middle of 2011”” to Equitable Life annuitants.

Answer

Payments began on 30 June 2011 and hundreds of payments have been made to date. Payment volumes will continue to increase over the coming months as the scheme's complex payment processes are refined further.
