To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (1) if he will place in the Library a copy of the responses received by his Department during the consultation exercise conducted between 28 October and 23 December 2003 on the implementation of the European Directive on the Activities and Supervision of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision, relating to the application of Article 8 of the Directive to the Local Government Pension Scheme;

Answer

I am advised that we have received no responses specifically concerning the implementation of the European directive on the activities and supervision of Institutions for occupational retirement provision relating to the application of Articles 8, 18 and 5 (exclusion from the requirements of Articles 9 to 17) of the directive to the local government pension scheme. However, copies of all the responses received by the Department during the consultation exercise relating to the general implementation of Articles 8,18 and 5 have been placed in the Library. A copy of the original consultation document has also been provided together with a copy of the Government's summary response to the consultation.
