Question

asked Her Majesty's Government:Further to the remarks by the Attorney-General on 19 March (GC 131–32), what is their policy and practice on seeking the Law Officers' advice before making a statement of compatibility under Section 19 of the Human Rights Act 1998.

Answer

The circumstances in which it will normally be appropriate to consult the Law Officers are set out in paragraph 6.22 of the Ministerial Code.
